The Passing of VP-4 Vet AVCM Roger L. Moore USN (Ret) VP-4 1965 – 1969

Roger Lee Moore, age 83, of Jacksonville, Florida, left at Baptist Medical Center for his eternal home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. He was born in Keokee, Virginia, on August 5, 1940, to Mae (Williams) and John D. Moore.

Roger was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. An intelligent and thoughtful man, Mr. Moore retired from the United States Navy as Command Master Chief. He was also a member of Rise Church. Mr. Moore enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy and the Jacksonville Jaguars, running, and walking in his later years. His most significant athletic accomplishment was participating in the 1986 Jacksonville Marathon, finishing 26.2 miles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Mickey and Dale Moore, and his sister, Sherry Moore. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Linda P. Moore of Jacksonville; sons, Steve Moore and Joe Moore, both of Jacksonville, and Rick Moore of Macclenny; grandchildren, Brittany(Tyler), Daniel, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Oren, Titus, Je’ Kye; along with nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.

Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Moore will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 800 Hammond Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32221, with Pastor Joe Moore officiating.
